NEYOS Improves Sports Tracking Safety with Monogoto and Skylo Partnership
NEYOS, an innovative geolocation beacon manufacturer, was founded following a life-threatening incident in which its co-founder was in a remote location and unable to reach emergency services. This experience led to the development of the NEYOS Otrac, the first satellite and cellular geolocation beacon that allows tracking of people and assets in remote locations.
About the company
NEYOS is the developer of the NEYOS Otrac, a positioning and security beacon designed for tracking people and objects anywhere on Earth.

The Challenge
Asset tracking in remote regions demands reliable connectivity. When runners are participating in remote sporting events, like an ultra-marathon, the typical option for event organizers to track the runners’ whereabouts is when they pass through various checkpoints along the course. Waiting for runners to arrive at these checkpoints can be dangerous—as they may experience an emergency between those checkpoints, which can be miles apart. To give marathon participants peace of mind that they are keeping runners safe, marathon organizers need a way to track participants at all times, in any location.
The Solution
NEYOS provides event organizers with the NEYOS Otrac, a positioning beacon that tracks a runner’s location through satellite and cellular networks. Using geo-fencing capabilities, marathon organizers can set virtual boundaries around the course. If a runner deviates from the course—stepping outside the predetermined boundaries—or experiences an emergency, the event organizers are immediately alerted through the Otrac security beacon and help can be dispatched promptly.
To support its technology and offer a comprehensive solution, NEYOS partnered with Monogoto for its ability to provide device connectivity anywhere in the world, whether on a cellular or satellite network. NEYOS chose Monogoto as its connectivity partner because of its relationship with multiple cellular operators globally, and with Skylo, who offers the devices’ satellite connectivity.
The Results
Improved safety for sporting event participants.
Affordable remote access tracking: with the NEYOS Otrac and connectivity provided by Monogoto and Skylo, tracking and ensuring the safety of remote sporting events’ participants is affordable because it operates on commercially available models.
Seamless connectivity switching: If Monogoto’s cellular service is not available, the NEYOS Otrac automatically switches to Skylo’s satellite network for coverage, ensuring the ability to track people and assets no matter what type of coverage is present.
At NEYOS, we set out to create a reliable tracking device to ensure the safety of athletes. Since the best playgrounds for sports are often remote natural locations, reliable satellite connectivity is fundamental to our mission. Our partnership with Monogoto and Skylo gives our customers the assurance that remote participant tracking is accessible and efficient.”

The Future of NEYOS
With simplified, affordable cellular and satellite connectivity, NEYOS has expanded their market to other industries that need to track assets and fleets in areas where connectivity was once prohibitive, or prohibitively expensive:
- Sporting events: rally raid, hiking, sailing, and cycling.
- Asset tracking: Tracking of high-value goods such as luxury items, cattle, pets, and vehicles.
- Lone workers: Forestry workers, delivery drivers, postal workers, and construction.
